For those considering heading out into the great wide world on their first tourist excursion, one could do worse than to consider first of all the splendor of a China tour. This ancient country features an array of historical attractions and also an equally impressive number of cosmopolitan sites and experiences sufficient to literally boggle the mind while on a tour.

A China tour can be a great way to see some of the most famous attractions in the world, including the Great Wall and Beijing's Forbidden City, which was once the home of many a dynasty's imperial court. Commoners and peasants were forbidden entrance to the city unless they specifically served the court itself. Many an emperor sat on his throne there, directing great events throughout the kingdom.

Almost every tour through China these days can be obtained as an all-inclusive excursion. This means that your airfare, accommodations, meals and transportation and the service of professional English-speaking guides are all included in your price. For people who new to the activity of touring through a country, an all-inclusive package can take a great deal of travel anxiety away.

There are so many things to see and do in a country as vast as China. It's also the case that at any given time climate in the Middle Kingdom can be pretty much what someone might desire it to be. Travel to the far north and the mountainous regions can deliver one into a winter-like climate while travel to the far south can have one experiencing tropical temperatures and sunshine.

For those who wish to see the best of the cities that China offers to the rest of the world, a stop in Shanghai is a must-do. Shanghai can be shoppers' paradise. This modern cosmopolitan city offers visitors a chance to see what today's Middle Kingdom is like.

Once done with Shanghai, one should always make time for a trip to the ancient city of Xian, home to the famous Terracotta Warriors. These statues were created by command of an emperor who wished to have his army accompany him into the afterlife so that they would be prepared to defend him and do his bidding once he arrived there. They're truly a sight not to be missed.

Always try to take advantage of the guided tour packages, especially if this is the first tourist excursion being taken. It can be easy for a tourist traveling on his or her own to become overwhelmed as China is so large and diverse. Most such tours also offer an extension trip over to Hong Kong, the former British colony that's China's own experiment in capitalism.

Anybody who's interested in seeing the world should be interested in taking a China tour at one time or another in his or her life. The country, known as the Middle Kingdom, offers a huge number of cultural, historical and topographical attractions that just aren't available for viewing and appreciation anywhere else in the world. The country is far more than the Great Wall, as a matter of fact.
